ATF: Malaysian Hup Wei Qualifies For Long Jump Final
KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian high jumper Lee Hup Wei on Thursday cleared 2.10 metres to qualify for the long jump final of the 22nd Asian Track and Field (ATF) Championships in India.
The 30-year-old will face stiff competition from 13 other high jumpers in the final on Saturday at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Mahfuzur Rahman of Bangladesh and Abdalrahman M Alyouha of Kuwait only managed to clear 2.00 metres and thus failed to qualify for the final, said the ATF website www.odisha2017.games.
Hup Wei won the high jump gold medal at 2009 Jordan ATF and gold medals in 2007 Manila SEA Games, 2009 Vientiane SEA Games and 2011 Palembang SEA Games.
He cleared a personal best of 2.27 metres in 2010 while for this year, he cleared 2.24 metres in April.
