Badminton Asia Bags Gold Award At 2016 SPIA Awards And Conference

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Badminton Asia (BAC) received a recognition after the body was awarded the Gold Award under the Best Sports Youth Programme of the Year category at the Sports Industry Awards and Conference Asia (SPIA) 2016. BAC in a statement issued Wednesday said the award was presented at the Gala dinner held in Bangkok, Thailand Tuesday night which its Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kenny Goh who was former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) General Manager, received on behalf of BAC. Badminton Asia which is the governing body for badminton in Asia, was nominated as one of the eight finalist for the coveted award. "This demonstrates that our development programme stands tall with the recognition of its visionary outlook, a robust framework with practical implementation. "We thank all our member associations, sponsors, partners, and stakeholders for all the support and corporation given. This is a success which Badminton Asia would like to share with you," BAC added. SPIA Awards recognises and celebrates the achievements by the sporting industry in Asia which has become a premier destination for a large scale of local and international events and competitions with a year-on-year increase in frequency, size and spending. The two-day SPIA themed “The Business of Sports – Asia’s Sports Industry in the Fastlane II” facilitates collaboration and helps drive best practices across the industry and provides the latest updates and research within sports marketing, sponsorship, technology, broadcast, travel & tourism, event marketing and event management. -- BERNAMA
