Badminton: Ratchanock Intanon wins Indonesia Open

Jakarta, June 7 (Antara) - Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand came out as the champion of the women's single event of the BCA Indonesia Super Series Premier Badminton Open here on Sunday. She won the title after beating Japanese Yui Hashimoto 21-11, 21-10 at the final round that day. "I am very glad I won today after working very hard to become the champion of the Indonesia Open for the first time after failing last year," Intanon said after the match. She said the key to her victory was Yui's failure to show her best performance which was because she might have been tired. "Yui played very well in the semifinal round beating Chinese top player Wang Yihan," Intanon said. Yui meanwhile said she would learn from her loss to Intanon for the future because this was the first super series tournament she took part. "Because I had to play at the semifinals until late at night, I was quite tired today to make me unable to move lightly," she said. As the champion Intanon received US$60,000 in prize money while Yiu US$30,400.
