Bahrain edge Bangladesh in 2023 AFC Cup Qualifiers

Kuala Lumpur, Jun 8 (BNA): Bahrain’s national team has made a promising debut in the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) qualifiers, being held in Malaysia.
The national squad edged past Bangladesh 2-0 in the first match of Group E, which also host country, Malaysia, Turkmenistan.
Ali Haram scored a header 34 minutes in the first half of the match which was played at Bukit Jalil Stadium.
His teammate Kumail Al Aswad scored the second goal 8 minutes lates, enabling Bahrain to secure three points.
National Coach Helio Sousea fielded Sayyed Mohammed Jaffer, Waleed Hayyam, Amine bin Udai Amine, Rashid Al Hooti, Sayyed Ridha Isa, Kumail Al Aswad, Ali Haram, Abdelwahab Al Malud, Ali Madan, Mahdi Humaidan and Abdulla Youssef.
The national squad will play respectively host country Malaysia on Saturday (June 11) and Turkmenistan next Tuesday (June 14).
Six teams topping their groups will qualify to the 2023 AFC Cup, along with five best second-placed teams. Fourteen countries have already booked a berth in the continentinental tournament.
