Bahrain qualify for Olympics handball quarter-finals

Tokyo, Aug. 1 (BNA): Bahrain have qualified for the quarter-finals in the Olympic handball tournament, in a new sporting feat for the nation. Bahrain, Portugal and Japan finished fourth in their stage group with two points, but the Bahraini team has a better goal difference, the first tie-break. Japan’s defeat of Portugal 31-30 meant that the two teams were eliminated. Bahrain had clinched their first Olympic victory in the handball tournament after they beat hosts Japan 32-30.
