Bahrain wins 15 medals at West Asian Paralympic Games

Manama, Feb.25 (BNA): Bahrain clinched 15 medals in total at the first edition of the West Asian Paralympic Games in the UAE.
The nationals made a strong impact at the games, winning five gold, three silver and seven bronze amidst fierce competition with other West Asian nations.
The team was given a special welcome on return yesterday (Saturday) by high-ranking sports officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy Secretary-General, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, along with Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities president Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa and other senior sports officials congratulated members of the team on arrival.
In an official statement, Shaikha Hayat said that what the team has accomplished in this event brought great pride for all Bahrainis, and commended the outstanding performance of the Bahraini athletes in this event.
On his part, Shaikh Mohammed expressed pride for this first-of-its-kind achievement with 15 medals won in different competitions, which reflects the development of Bahrain sports for disabilities.
