Basketball achievement noted

Manama, Mar. 20 (BNA): Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar was all praise for the Bahrain women’s basketball team on return from Doha, where they took the competition’s silver medal at the recently-concluded Fifth GCC Women’s Games. This was announced at a reception of the team, hosted by the Bahrain Olympic Committee premises in Seef. Askar noted the remarkable results of the team in the competition under national coach Fadel Milad, and the high spirit showed by members of the team at the games, which resulted in the team finishing second behind champions and host nation Qatar by a narrow margin. Askar added that basketball in Bahrain featured major progress under new Bahrain Basketball Association president Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, who is a young and ambitious individual offering all that would bring back the glory to Bahrain basketball, and wished the team success in future challenges.
