Central House of Sports to be renovated

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A memorandum was established between the Ministry of Health and Sport and a Chinese state-run company to renew the Central Palace of Sports of Mongolia. In accordance with the document, the Palace will get a swimming pool of 50m, sports and artistic halls with 2,500 seats, a 1,000-seat extra hall, medicine and training labs and other facilities. The renovation will be performed by China’s “Shanghai Construction” company, which had constructed the “Buyant-Ukhaa” sports complex in Ulaanbaatar with aid from China. The Palace was built in 1958 under Chinese financial aid. On its 8,165 square meters palace currently has one competition hall, seven training halls and several offices. It annually hosts some 140 domestic and international tournaments in judo, freestyle-wrestling, boxing, weightlifting and gymnastics. Moreover, it gives shelter to headquarters of national federations for judo, freestyle wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, gymnastics, Mongolia’s University Sports Federation and others.
