Chairman of Qatar Air Sports Committee Praises Success of Qatar International Open Parachuting Championship
Doha, February 10 (QNA) - HE Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee Major-General Hamad bin Abdullah Al Fetais Al Marri hailed the success of the first Qatar International Open Parachuting Championship. The four-day competition concluded Wednesday with the participation of eight countries in the Sealine area.
In remarks, HE Qatar Air Sports Committee Chairman praised the great role played by the organizing committee of the championship, which was held as part of the preparations for the World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM 2021) in Doha from November 15 to 20. He also hailed the technical level of the participants.
He also congratulated the first-placed teams, especially Qatar's cohesion quadruple parachuting team for deservedly winning the title, expressing pride in the achievements of the Qatar Air Sports Committee, as Qatar achieved two Guinness Book records as well as other records.
He also confirmed that the State of Qatar has an elite of Qatari youth who are distinguished in parachuting, noting the Qatar Air Sports Committee's keenness to form more than one team from young ages to maintain communication between generations and continue to shine in parachute jumping.
HE Major-General Hamad bin Abdullah Al Fetais Al Marri said that the Qatari team is currently ranked second in the world and first in the Arab world and Asia, and he promised that work will continue in the rehabilitation of members of the Qatari teams so that Qatar occupies the first place in the world in the general classification.
HE the Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee underlined that holding the championship was a great challenge due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was held with compliance with all precautionary measures, and the organizing committee of the tournament has succeeded in overcoming all difficulties.
President Of the FAI Parachuting Commission Gillian Rayner praised the wonderful and distinguished organization by the Qatar Air Sports Committee for the tournament, noting that the tournament witnessed strong competition between the participating teams and that it is a real rehearsal before Qatar hosts the World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM 2021).
Hamad Al Marri, captain of the Qatari quadruple cohesion team, expressed his great happiness at winning the gold medals at the end of the tournament, stressing that the competition was difficult in light of the participation of a group of the best jumpers and their eagerness to provide the best levels and achieve the best results. He explained that experience played a major role in deciding the title winners, adding that the most important characteristic of the Qatar national team is the understanding between all members of the team, the implementation of many distinguished jumps, and the gaining of experience.
