China's Wang Han Among Top Divers For Fina Diving World Series

KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Wang Han of China are among the world's top divers taking part in the 2016 Fina Diving World Series at Sarawak Aquatic Centre, Petra Jaya from Oct 21 to 23. Sarawak State Sports Council director Dr Ong Kong Swee said Wang Han, 2015 world champion in women's 3m synchro mix, is among 21 Chinese divers listed. The Olympian will be joined by Yang Hao, the 2015 world champion in men's 3m synchro mix. The tournament has attracted divers from eight countries, including host Malaysia. Australia's 2016 Olympian, Kelvin Chavez will also be in the fray. The United States would have six divers, Canada (5), Australia (4), Hong Kong, Singapore and Russia would have two divers each. However, Ong said the names of the foreign divers were not unavailable. Malaysia has listed Cheong Jun Hoong (Rio Olympic silver medalist) and Olympians, Ahmad Amsyar Azman, Ng Yan Yee and Ooi Tze Liang. Malaysia would be fielding 10 divers. Diving queen Pandelela Rinong is out as she is nursing an injury. This is the first time a world class diving tournament hosted by Malaysia is held outside Kuala Lumpur. -- BERNAMA
