Curtain falls on endurance season in Bahrain

Manama, Apr.3 (BNA):The curtain has today fallen on the endurance racing season 2020-2021, with the final races were held under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) Honorary President, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa
The programme featured two international qualifying races covering 100 and 120 kilometres respectively, in addition to two local qualifying races covering 40 and 80km.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed delight at the success of the endureance season (2020-2021), hailing the large participation of stables in different championships.
He praised the organization of the local and international races, commending the stables and jockeys who took part despite the unstable weather conditions.
He stressed Bahraini riders’ resolve to achieve good results in the upcoming external endurance competitions, build on the previous honourable performance.
He praised BREEF-led efforts, chaired by HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, commending the organising committees and referees for their role in success of the endurance season. .
Al Asayel jockey Nayef Saleh Al Ma’amari dominated the 120-kilometre-long race, clocking 5 hours, 55 minutes and 54 seconds.
He was followed by Al Zaim rider Hamad Helal Al Khateri (5 hrs, 58 mn, 38 secs) and Al Asayel jockey Abdulla Nabeel Al Naqabi (6hrs, 6 mn and 31 secs).
KHK jockey Hessa Al Mashari outclasses her competitors and won the 100-km-race, clocking (5 hrs, 17 mns and 39 secs), followed by Al Ittihad rider “Varia Isabel” (5 hrs, 20 mns, 5 secs) and N13 jockey Hussein Mohammed Al Nayef (5 hrs, 20 mn and 43 secs).
