Delia's Challenge In US Open Comes To An End
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysian number three women's squash player, Delia Arnold failed to march further after losing in the first round of the 2016 US Open held at Philadelphia Cricket Club on Sunday.
The tournament's official website, http://www.usopensquash.com said the 30-year-old player lost to sixth seeded Camille Serme of France in straight set of 4-11, 6-11 and 3-11.
With this defeat, national squash queen Nicol David and Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan are the only Malaysian players left standing in the championship.
Nicol, who is ranked world number three, is scheduled to meet Nour El Tayeb of Egypt in the second round battle at 6.30pm local time (Malaysia is 12 hours ahead of Philadelphia).
Earlier, the 11th seeded player swept aside qualifier Fiona Moverley of England, 11-4, 11-8 and 14-12.
In the men's category, Mohd Nafiizwan will battle Steve Coppinger of South Africa (5.30pm local time), who survived into the second round after defeating qualifier Alan Clyne of Scotland, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6, 2-11 and 13-11.
