Discus thrower Hadadi makes history with Iran’s first athletic Olympic medal

TEHRAN,Aug.10(MNA)--Ehsan Hadadi of Iran made history by winning the country’s first track-and-field medal in the Olympic Games.
Hadadi claimed a silver medal in the men's discus on Tuesday with a throw of 68.18 meters.
The Iranian discus thrower came third at last year's world championships in Daegu, South Korea.
German Robert Harting won the gold medal with 68.27 meters and bronze medal went to defending champion Gerd Kanter of Estonia with 68.03.
“I missed the gold medal due to just 10cm. I came here to get the gold however I am satisfied with the result,” Hadadi said.
“I have to say Harting deserved to win the gold medal. I want to continue the event until I’m 40,” the 27-year-old said.
