Doha 2030 Bid Committee Presents Vision to OCA Evaluation Committee
Doha, November 12 (QNA) - The Doha 2030 Asian Games Bid Committee on Wednesday showcased its visions and plans to host an extraordinary and unprecedent Asian Games before the Evaluation Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), currently visiting the State of Qatar.
On the first day of the visit, the Evaluation Committee received detailed presentations from the Doha 2030 Asian Games Bid Committee, which included its vision and plans for hosting the 2030 Asian Games, its motives for hosting the Games and how it can guarantee an exceptional edition. The Committee also paid field visits to the most prominent world-class sporting facilities in Doha.
The Evaluation Committee's delegation paid a visit to Qatar Foundation, home to a number of the most prominent educational institutions in the world, making it a regional hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and fostering social development. Qatar Foundation will have a pivotal role in ensuring that the Doha 2030 break all barriers and celebrate the cultural diversity of Qatar and Asia.
During the visit, HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, met with the Evaluation Committee's delegation, in the presence of HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation.
The meeting discussed the role of Qatar Foundation in supporting the success of Qatar's hosting of the 2030 Asian Games.
HE Sheikha Hind underlined that Doha is definitely ready to host the 2030 Asian Games, given its world-class facilities and advanced infrastructure, adding that Doha's hosting of the Games is a celebration of sport and a source of inspiration for a new generation of athletes, not only in Doha but also in the region and the world.
HE Sheikha Hind expressed pleasure to welcome the OCA Evaluation Committee in the Education City, stressing the keenness of Qatar Foundation on promoting the values embodied by the participation in sport, namely respect, commitment, fairness, sportsmanship and activity, stemming from the belief in the importance of providing opportunities for different members of society to ensure their health and well-being, and to work together for a strong, vibrant and dynamic society.
The Evaluation Committee was then taken on a short journey to the state-of-the-art Al Shaqab Indoor Arena, which is part of the Qatar Foundation Sports Complex and would host the equestrian events in 2030. The Committee listened to an extensive explanation about Qatar Vision 2030 and its plans to host Games that puts the players at the center of attention. The Committee also had presentation on the sports experiences of the State of Qatar and the benefits that will spread to society before and after 2030.
The program of the first day also included a tour of the National Command Centre (NCC) and Dhuail Indoor Arena.
HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee and Doha 2030 Chairman, welcomed the Evaluation Committee to Doha and said: "It is an honor to welcome the OCA Evaluation Committee to Doha. As people of sport, my team cannot wait to explain our plans about the certainty and lack of risk that we are uniquely able to offer the OCA and the best athletes in Asia in 2030. Just as importantly, is why this certainty is critical for Asia. What it will mean. And how it will free Doha 2030 up to deliver legacy benefits for the whole of our continent like we have never seen before. If we are awarded the great honor of hosting the Asian Games, I can assure you that we will deliver a magical Games."
For his part, HE Secretary-General of Qatar Olympic Committee and CEO of Doha 2030 Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain said that Doha seeks to reformulate existing concepts on how to host tournaments. It seeks to focus on the future of sport in Qatar and Asia and deal with the necessary and urgent aspects such as building a sustainable legacy for the Asian sports that is not measured only by new sports facilities but through improving the quality of life of the society.
