Ecuador Coach Excited to Face Qatar at FIFA World Cup 2022 Opening Match

Doha, April 02 (QNA) - Ecuador coach Gustavo Alfaro said he was excited to play the FIFA World Cup's opening match against Qatar, after the two teams were drawn in Group A with Senegal and The Netherlands. Speaking to reporters after the draw, he said that he was happy to be competing at the highest level, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many difficult conditions. He also expressed his pride at being at Doha to attend the draw. He said he was pleased that transport and training will be relatively straight forward during the World Cup. He stressed that Qatar has went to extraordinary lengths to ensure its ready to host the World Cup, whether in terms of hotels or the infrastructure in general. Alfaro said that his experience coaching Saudi Arabia before helped him understand GCC football better, which will be useful for World Cup preparations. He said that Belgium, Brazil, The Netherlands, and France were the favorites for the title. (QNA)
