FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021: Palestine and Comoros Eyeing Qualification Ticket
Doha, June 23 (QNA) - The Palestinian and Comoros national teams are looking to snatch the qualification ticket when they meet tomorrow at Khalifa International Stadium as part of the qualifying matches for the group stage of the Arab Cup "Qatar FIFA" 2021.
Both teams enter the match with broad ambitions, hoping to book the qualification ticket for the third group, which includes the teams of Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, who qualifiers against South Sudan.
The Palestinian team had previously participated 9 times in the West Asian Football Federation Championship and won the bronze medal in the Arab Games in 1999.
The list of the Palestinian team included 23 players: Rami Hamadeh, Tawfiq Abu Hammad, Ghanem Mahajna, Abdul Latif Al-Bahdari, Yasser Hamad, Muhammad Saleh, Muhammad Al-Sammar, Musab Al-Battat, Musa Ferrawi, Ahmed Qatamish, Muhammad Khalil, Uday Kharoub, Muhammad Yamin, Muhammad Darwish, Muhammad Bassem, Uday Al-Dabbagh, Saleh Shehadeh, Laith Kharroub, Mahmoud Abu Warda, Khaled Salem, Islam Al-Batran, Badr Musa, Tamer Siam.
On the other hand, Comoros, located in the Indian Ocean near the east coast of Africa, is seeking to appear in a major tournament, having booked a seat in the upcoming African Nations Cup in Cameroon after qualifying from the group that included Egypt, Kenya and Togo.
The Comoros national team was eliminated from the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers after losing in September 2019 to the Togolese team in the African qualifiers for the World Cup. The Comoros national football team has made its debut in many continental competitions, as it participated 4 times in the CECAFA Cup and won the bronze medal in the Indian Ocean Games in 1979 and 1985.
The Comoros national team list included 21 players: Moayad Qossini, Mahmoud Mofeli, Omar Vardy, Hakim Dagaha, Hiam Ibrahim, Qassem Ahmeda, Alawi Abdullah, Salem Ali, Nassim Ali, Fakira Ahmed Hassani, Fouaz Fadini, Ankoub Ali, Abdel Rahim Mounia, Chadhuly Merbadabi, Zido Soleihi, Moussa Jumoi, Lafti Daoud and Mohamed Anwar, Ibrahim Youssef, Jamal Al-Din Atwi and Muhammad Machangama.
Last March, the Comoros team made its first appearance in the next edition of the African Nations Cup, which will be held in Cameroon early next year, and therefore the Arab Cup will be the perfect preparation for the African Championship. (QNA)
