FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Draw Was a Fusion of the Modern and the Traditional

Doha, April 02 (QNA) - The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ceremony was a fusion of the modern and the traditional. The ceremony began with a reveal of the mascot "La'eeb" and the World Cup song "Haya Haya." The event also saw the official release of the World Cup ball "Al Rihla." Guest of the ceremony, Egyptian artist Sherihan, gave speech in which she described the World Cup in Qatar as a dream, and the beginning of uniting the Arab World. The song also embodies the values of the World Cup by representing diverse voices from Qatar, the Americas, and Africa. It conveys a message of unity and hope that is sure to define the course of the historic tournament. The organizers of the ceremony did not forget to immortalize the most prominent football stars in the world, as a video was shown to commemorate the career of the quartet, Argentine legend Diego Maradona, German star Gerd Muller, Paulo Rossi, and British goalkeeper Gordon Banks, who have passed away during the past three years. Prior to the draw, France coach Didier Deschamps, brought out the trophy along with Joris, a French child who rose to fame for carrying a picture of the World Cup trophy in the stands. The draw was presented by award-winning actor Idriss Elba and Reshmin Chowdhury. Helping during the draw were legends Germany's Lothar Matthaus, Brazil's Cafu, Qatar's Adel Ahmed Malalla, Algeria's Rabah Madjer, Iran's Ali Daei, Serbia's Bora Milutinovic, Nigeria's Okocha, Australia's Tim Cahill.
