GCC Games delegation meets sports federations

Manama, Feb.25 (BNA): Bahrain’s administrative delegation for the Fifth GCC Women’s Games, which takes place in Doha next month, has put its final touches ahead of the event kick off.
The delegation, headed by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy Secretary-General, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bintAbdulaziz Al Khalifa, had a meeting with representatives of sports federations involved at the upcoming games.
They are athletics, bowling, shooting, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, fencing and taekwondo. Shaikha Hayat stressed the delegation keenness to offer all means of support for the teams to ensure best results in all competitions.
Shaikha Hayat said the Bahrain participation in the games is in line with the directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty theKing for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and SportsChairman, and BOC President, to further boost sports development in Bahrain.
The games will be held from March 7 to 17 as Bahrain hopes to win the event for a record third time, having won the 2013 and 2015 games held in Bahrain and Oman, respectively.
This year’s Women’s Games will feature 13 sports in total – handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, taekwondo, shooting, athletics for people with disabilities, chess, fencing, bowling, tennis, athletics and equestrian.
