Half day off for Bahrain Sports Day

Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): Bahrain Olympic Committee staff will be working half day to engage in activities on the first-ever Bahrain Sports Day on February 7.
This day-long event is organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and Bahrain’s four governorates.
The announcement is in compliance with the decision of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa who directed ministries and government departments to allocate half of the working hours on February 7 for sports activities to mark the National Sports Day.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar also directed to hold sporting events on the day for the committee employees in order to achieve the athletic, health and social goals of the National Sports Day, promote the concept of sports for all and raise awareness on the importance of sports for the society.
The 2017 Bahrain Sports Day will see more than 10 ministries, four governorates, 28 sports federations, national and expatriate sports clubs in addition to the youth centres delivering a variety of sports and entertaining activities throughout the day in different locations across the kingdom.
The event is in line with the directives of the presidents of national GCC olympics committee to have a national sport day organized in all over the Gulf region and involves all communities of all ages.
Among top attractions of the day will be a set of activities organized by national sports federations at the purpose-built Sport Village near the National Stadium at Isa Sports City in Riffa City, including an open walkathon.
