HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expresses pride in Muharraq Club’s second AFC cup

Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA): HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, has extended his sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince Prime Minister, as well as to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs on the occasion of Muharraq Club's historic achievement which saw them lifting the AFC Cup for the second time in their history. Muharraq Club outclassed Nasaf of Uzbekistan 3-0 in the final match which took place at the late Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa Stadium. HH Shaikh Khalid was present in the stands alongside HE Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation, HE Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Football Association, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy President of Bahrain Football Association, HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HE Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa, President of Muharraq Club, Mr Ravshan Irmatov, First Deputy President of Uzbekistan Football Association and HE Dr Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority. After the final whistle, HH Shaikh Khalid crowned Muharraq Club, and participated in lifting the cup with the winners. Commenting on this, HH Shaikh Khalid hailed the performance of Muharraq Club in the final game, applauding the players' firm desire to win the game and achieve this exceptional result which adds to the Club's bright accomplishments. His Highness also praised the unwavering support the players received throughout the game from the fans who filled the stadium to back the team. "We are proud of this result, which is an extension of Muharraq's rich history. The Club has always honoured our nation, and wrote history with golden letters and today it continues making a new success," HH Shaikh Khalid said, congratulating Muharraq Club's President, members, players and fans on this accomplishment.
