HH Shaikh Khalid to patronise Inherited Sports Challenge

Manama, (BNA): HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Athletic Association, has directed to organise the Inherited Sports Challenge next March, and that is within the initiatives launched by His Highness to support the sports and cultural movements in the Kingdom of Bahrain. HH Shaikh Khalid emphasised the significance of organising similar contests and competitions, which are derived from the rich national heritage that was passed on by the ancestors and previous generations. HH Shaikh Khalid said that organising the challenge comes within the efforts dedicated to implement the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to support and sponsor the different traditional and inherited sports, considering it as an essential part of the Bahraini heritage. On the occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid stated: "The Inherited Sports Challenge is part of our vision to strengthen the values of patriotism and belonging to the nation. It is inspired by our national heritage and aims to preserve the authentic and deep-rooted Bahraini identity through the sports passed on from the previous generations. Through this competition, we aspire to continue the legacy and promote traditional sports among the youth to ensure its sustainability throughout the different generations." His Highness valued the extraordinary efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Charity and Youth Affairs, President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee in implementing the directives of HM the King to preserve Bahrain’s national heritage through organising events and activities that engage the youth in traditional and heritage events and activities. HH Shaikh Khalid praised the success of the Hunting and Falconry Tournament, and the Marine Heritage Sports Season, which are annually organised following the directives of and patronised by HH Shaikh Nasser. "Our support to the Bahraini youth in all fields will continue, especially in the inherited sports and traditional activities, as our goal is to grant them the opportunities to showcase their power, abilities and creativity in an exciting and competitive environment," HH Shaikh Khalid added.
