Iran’s Mehdizadeh wins gold in World Karate Championships

TEHRAN,Nov.26(MNA)--Amir Mehdizadeh claimed a gold medal on Saturday at the 2012 World Karate Championships in Paris, France. In the -60kg category, the Iranian athlete defeated Douglas Brose of Brazil and won the gold medal. Egyptian Mohamed Gamal and Marko Antic from Serbia jointly won the bronze medal. Saied Ahmadi of Iran claimed the silver. The -67kg athlete, lost to Magdy Mamdouh from Egypt. Brian Ramrup from the United States and William Rolle of France jointly claimed the bronze medal. Almost 1,000 athletes from 114 countries participated in the 21st edition of the World Karate Championships.
