Iran’s Paralympic motto announced

TEHRAN,May 20(MNA) – With a hundred days to go to the start of the 2012 Paralympic Games, Iran has announced its slogan for the event. “We will participate in the Paralympic Games with about 90 athletes and our motto will be ‘Reliance, Effort, and Allegiance to Martyrs’. Hopefully, the Iranian representatives can make the Iranian people proud,” the chairman of Iran’s National Paralympic Committe, Mahmoud Khosravivafa, said on Saturday. “Iran is well prepared for the games. We have already bought our ticket. The Iranian athletes are determined to do their best in the competitions. Sports is unpredictable, but we are going to get better results compared to the previous Paralympics in Beijing,” he added. Iran’s National Paralympic Committee announced in February that the Iranian team will participate in the Paralympics under the name 'Delvar', after Rais Ali Delvari. Rais Ali Delvari was a national hero of southern Iran who organized a popular resistance movement against British troops, who had invaded Iran in 1915.
