Iran comes 2nd in world junior taekwondo championships

TEHRAN,April 10(MNA)--Iran finished runner-up at the 9th WTF World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The Iranian team won two gold medals and two silver medals, notching up 62 points. South Korea claimed the title with four gold medals, three silvers and a total of 89 points. Russia finished at third place with one gold, two bronze medals and 44 points, followed by Spain (38 points) and Chinese Taipei (37 points). In the women's division, Korea won four gold medals and 73 points, followed by Russia with three gold medals and one bronze medal. Turkey came next with two silver medals, two bronze medals and 45 points, followed by Chinese Taipei with two silvers, two bronzes and 38 points, and Germany with one gold, two bronze medals and 37 points. The biennial championships brought a total of 753 athletes from 90 countries together in the Sharm El Sheikh Covered Hall.
