Iran crowned Asian Weightlifting Champion

TEHRAN,June 26(MNA)--Iran won the title of the 2013 Asian Weightlifting Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
In the last day of the competitions, Iran’s Rashid Sharifi claimed the gold medal in the super heavyweight class.
The Iranian lifter won the gold by lifting 191 kg in snatch, 226kg in clean and jerk and 417kg in total.
Chen Shih-chieh of Chinese Taipei stood in second place for a total lift of 413 kg and bronze medal went to Ibragim Bersanov of Kazakhstan with a total of 402 kg.
Iran’s Jaber Behrouzi claimed a gold medal in the 69kg weight class for a total lift of 323kg.
Rasoul Taghian seized the gold in the 77kg class for a total lift of 366kg. The Iranian lifter was named as the best lifter of the competitions.
Iran’s Sohrab Moradi also won a gold medal in the 85kg weight class with a total lift of 358kg.
In the 94kg class, Yasin Bagheri of Iran claimed a bronze medal with 362kg. Alexandr Zaichikov of Kazakhstan won the gold with a total lift of 385kg and Chinese Zhang Shengguo finished in second place by lifting 374kg in total.
Mohsen Bahramzadeh seized the silver medal in the 105kg class with a total lift of 390kg and the bronze medal went to his countryman Kia Ghdami who lifted 379kg in total.
Iran claimed the title with 564 points, followed by India and Chinese Taipei with 490 and 474 points respectively.
