Iran fencer knocked out of Olympics

LONDON,July 30(MNA) – Fencer Mojtaba Abedini from Iran was knocked out of the Olympic Games on Sunday. In round 64 of the Men's Individual Sabre on Sunday, the Iranian lost to Romanian Florin Zalomir 15-7. “I apologize to the Iranian people for this defeat. I did what I could. My Romanian rival is one of the best fencers in the world. I started good in my battle but he was more experienced,” Abedini said. “The Olympics is a big event and we cannot compare it with others. I have to take advantage of my Olympic experience to get a good result in the Asian Championship in South Korea,” he added. The London Olympic Games began on July 27 and will run through until 12 August.
