Iran U-18 basketball team too strong for Indonesia

TEHRAN,Aug.22(MNA)--Iran was too strong for Indonesia in the 22nd FIBA Asia U-18 Championship at Buyant-Ukhaa Arena in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. Iran humiliated the East Asian team 97-26 in Day 5 of the competition and improved to 4-0 record in Group F. The Persians have already defeated Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and Bahrain in the competition. Iran’s Saeid Bagheri was on top of the score sheet with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Mohammad Yazdanpanah notched 16. Iran is scheduled to face Chinese Taipei on Wednesday. The top three teams from each group will advance to the second round of the championship. The top three teams from the FIBA Asia U-18 Championship will represent FIBA Asia at the 2013 FIBA U-19 World Championship which will be played in Czech Republic from 27 June-7 July 2013.
