Iran wins Olympic silver in Weightlifting

LONDON,Aug.8(MNA) – Navab Nasirshelal of Iran missed the chance to win the gold medal of the men's 105kg weightlifting by one kilogram in the London 2012 Olympic Games. The 23-year-old lifted 184kg in snatch and hoisted 227kg in clean and jerk, claiming the silver with a total of 411kg. “I am so happy due to winning my first Olympics medal. Also, I’m glad since I’ve made the Iranian people happy. I could have won the gold medal if I repeated my personal best,” Nasirshelal said. Ukraine's Oleksiy Torokhtiy won the gold medal with a total of 412kg and Poland's Bartlomiej Wojciech Bonk claimed the bronze with 410kg. Iran’s 85kg class Kianoush Rostami claimed bronze on Friday, with a total of 380kg.
