Iranian athletes advance to Olympic Games

TEHRAN,July 3(MNA)--Rohollah Asgari from Iran booked a berth in the London 2012 Olympic Games after winning a gold medal on the second day of the Asian All Star Athletics Meet in Almaty, Kazakhstan. In the men's 110-meter hurdles, the Iranian athlete clocked 13.50 seconds and claimed the title. Denis Semenov from Kazakhstan (13.59) and Russian Aleksey Martiynov (14.44) came second and third respectively. Reza Ghasemi also qualified for the event by winning a gold medal in men’s 100-meter. The Iranian athlete came first with a time of 10.24 seconds, followed by Muravyev Vyacheslav (10.59) and Volodin Grigoriy (10.64) both from Kazakhstan. Ehsan Haddadi in discus throwing, Kaveh Mousavi in hammer throwing, Amin Nikfar and Leila Rajabi in shot put, Sajad Moradi in 800-meter, Sajad Hashemi Ahangari in 400m and Ebrahim Rahimian in 20-kilometer race walk have already booked their places in the Olympics.
