TEHRAN,Aug.23(MNA)--Iran’s Olympic silver medalist Ehsan Hadadi left Tehran on Wednesday to compete in the 11th leg of the Samsung Diamond League in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The discus thrower made history by winning the country’s first track-and-field medal in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Hadadi claimed a silver medal with a throw of 68.18 meters behind Robert Harting of Germany who claimed the gold medal with a throw of 68.27 meters.
“After Olympic Games I’ve not trained but I hope that to get good result in the competitions. I have a big chance of winning the championship,” the 27-year-old athlete said.
The Samsung Diamond League is an annual series of track and field meetings held from 2010 onwards, beginning with the 2010 IAAF Diamond League. It was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which was held annually since 1998.
