Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Armenia Win in World Cup 2022 Qatar Qualifier

European Capitals, March 29 (QNA) - Italy claimed a 2-0 Group C win over Bulgaria on Sunday evening, maintaining their 100 per cent start to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. Italy's Andrea Belotti, who scored on his last Italy appearance in November, put them ahead his penalty breaking the deadlock in the 43rd minute, and Manuel Locatelli curled in the second in the 82nd minute. In the same group, Xherdan Shaqiri netted in the 2nd minute to give Switzerland a 1-0 win over Lithuania. Germany made it two straight wins to open qualifying, too, by beating Romania 1-0 away. Italy moved atop Group C with 6 points, ahead of Switzerland on goal difference, while Lithuania, Bulgaria and Northern Ireland remained without any points. Germany defeated Romania 1-0. Serge Gnabry's 16th-minute strike earned Germany victory in Romania as Joachim Low's side secured their second successive win in World Cup qualifying Group J. Also in the World Cup qualifying Group J, Armenia beat Iceland 2-0. Tigran Barseghyan opened the score in the 53rd minute, and Khoren Bayramyan made it 2-0 in the 74th minute. (QNA)
