Jin Wei Advances To Thailand Open GP Gold Badminton Tourney Semifinals

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- World junior champion, Goh Jin Wei continued her smashing performance after cruising to the semifinals of the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton Championship held at Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Friday. The 16-year-old pint sized Goh defeated teammate, Ho Yen Mei; winning 21-17 and 21-13 in the quarterfinals match, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF); www.bwfbadminton.org.my. Jin Wei will meet Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand after the third seeded player scored a hard fought 20-22, 21-13 and 21-12 win over Singapore's Xiaoyu Liang. Malaysia's professional men's doubles pair, Lim Khim Wah/Ong Jian Guo also made it to the last four by stunning the third seeds, Bodin Isara/Nipitphon Phuangphuapet of Thailand; winning with 21-15, 17-21 and 21-14.
