KL2017: National Women’s Futsal Optimistic Of Medal Despite Losing Key Players
SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), Aug 12 (Bernama) – The national women’s futsal squad are optimistic of delivering a medal at the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 (KL2017) despite the absence of top players including captain Farahiyah Muhd Ridzuan due to injuries.
Chief coach Muizzudin Mohd Haris said the absence of several main players since the beginning of the season would not dampen the spirit and commitment of the squad to put up their best performance at the coming biennial meet.
“Preparation was quite challenging as key players such as captain Farahiyah and Nur Izzati Khairudin were injured...we have to adjust our preparations for the SEA Games,” he said after a training session at the Panasonic Sports Complex here Friday.
For the record, the best achievement of the women’s futsal squad was at the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar when they won the bronze medal after being held to a 3-3 draw by Vietnam at the last match of a round robin.
The national squad will be playing two friendly matches against China on Saturday and Sunday as the final warm-up before starting their SEA Games campaign against Myanmar on Aug 18.
