Magnificent MAGICAL Wins Gr1 Al Wasmiyah Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh

Dublin, June 30 (QNA) - The Al Wasmiyah Farm-sponsored Al Wasmiyah Pretty Polly Stakes, a Group 1 for Fillies and Mares at the Curragh Racecourse, Ireland is one of the main summer feature races for fillies and mares in the European calendar. This year's edition featured the return of the multiple Group 1 heroine MAGICAL(IRE) (Galileo x Halfway To Heaven), who has not been seen since her emphatic win in the QIPCO Champion Stakes (Gr1) at Ascot last October. Drawn wide, the odds-on favorite MAGICAL took the lead in the 2,000-meter race under Seamus Heffernan, with ROCA ROMA (Australia) and CAYENNE PEPPER (Australia) in behind her. In single file through the turn, they remained in the same order. MAGICAL wasted no time once in the straight and pulled readily clear of her rivals. This was MAGICAL's 10th career win, causing jockey Hefferan to describe her as 'pure class'. Owned and bred by the Coolmore partners, MAGICAL runs in the colours of Derrick Smith for Ballydoyle maestro Aidan O'Brien. (QNA)
