Malaysia Bags One Title at Asian Junior Badminton Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) – Malaysia won the boys doubles Under 15 title at the Asian Junior Badminton Championship which concluded at Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium, Yangon, Myanmar, Sunday. Muhammad Fazriq Mohamad Razif/Ong Zhen Yi defeated Lin Hao-Chi/Wen Sheng Hao of Taipeh, 21-18 and 21-16 in the final match, said the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website;www.bwfbadminton.com. Earlier, national junior shuttler, Ooi Jhy Dar failed in his bid to win at least one title after losing in both boys singles and boys doubles U17 category. Ooi was overwhelmed by the top seed, Vitidsarn Kunlavut of Thailand in the boys singles; losing in straight-set, 6-21 and 8-21. Later, Ooi teamed up with Jacky Kok Jing Hong in the boys doubles but they were beaten by the Taiwanese pair of Cheng Kai Wen/Chiu Yuh Hong;18-21 and 16-21. Malaysia's interest in the other events, fizzled out after the players were defeated by their respective opponents in the preliminary rounds.
