Malaysian Doubles Teo/Ong Wins Fourth International Title This Season

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian men's doubles, Teo Ee Yi/Ong Yew Sin won their fourth international title of the season after emerging victorious in the final match of the Bitburger Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton tournament held at Saarlandhalle in Saarbrucken, Germany on Sunday. The unseeded pair pulled off a surprise by defeating the eighth seed, Michael Fuchs/Johannes Schoettler of Germany, 21-16 and 21-18 in the final match which lasted about 40 minutes, said the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website; www.bwfbadminton.org. Prior to this, Teo/Ong won back-to-back the 51st Portuguese International and also Romanian International title, both in March and also the Vietnam International Challenge title in June. Our challenge in the men's singles and also the women's doubles ended in the preliminary round while the mixed doubles in the semi-final after the players lost to their respective opponents. Malaysia did not send any representatives in the women's singles of the tournament which offer a total prize money of US$120,000 (RM505,212). --BERNAMA
