Malaysian Queen Tees Off With Adam Scott In Pro-Am Of CIMB Golf Classic

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah Wednesday participated in the pro-am tournament of the 2016 CIMB Golf Classic at the Tournament Players Club Kuala Lumpur (TPCKL), here. The Queen who arrived at 7am was welcomed by Zainal Abidin Putih, a member of the CIMB Bank Berhad Board of Directors, and later joined the players for breakfast before the tee-off at 8am. Queen's flight also comprised the Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka (Malaysian state of Melaka's Head of State) Mohd Khalil Yaakob and world number six Adam Scott from Australia. The CIMB Classic, with a purse of US$7 million (RM28.7 million), is part of the PGA TOUR’s season-long FedExCup competition and is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Professional Golf Association of Malaysia. Into its seventh year, the CIMB Classic 2016 will feature a 78-player elite field, comprising 60 from the PGA TOUR, 10 from the Asian Tour and eight sponsor’s exemptions. Malaysia will be represented by Gavin Kyle Green, who booked his spot through the SapuraKencana National Qualifier, and the best-ranked golfer on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) on Oct 11 while Danny Chia is currently the national Number One. -- BERNAMA
