Malaysia's Road to Final Dims After Loss to Thailand

By Haikal Mohd Isa BANGKOK, July 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s chances of making the AFC Under 23 Championship final round took an ugly turn after Ong Kim Swee's boys lost 0-3 to Thailand. With the comfortable win, the Thailand squad of coach Srimaka Worrawoot are well positioned to qualify for the finals next year despite still having to play Indonesia in their last match. "Our players gave too much respect to the Thais who were given lots of space to move. We ( Malaysian players) often make mistakes," coach Kim Swee told a press conference after the match at Supachalasai National Stadium Friday. Thailand’s goals were scored by Chenrop Sampaodi (23rd minute, 45+2) and Phicha Au-Tra (85min). Kim Swee urged the players to pick up the pieces and beat Mongolia in their next match. Meanwhile, Srimaka praised his players for a good performances against Malaysia after managing only a 1-1 draw against Mongolia two days ago. -BERNAMA
