M.BUNDMAA WINS GOLD MEDAL IN JEJU

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A State Honored Sportswoman M.Bundmaa Thursday grabbed a gold medal in the Judo Grand Prix running in Jeju, South Korea on the first day of the tournament. A bronze medalist of World Championship and former Moscow Grand Slam winner, our judoka competed in the women’s 52 kg weight category contest, and defeated a South Korean Jung Eun Jung, a World Championships bronze medalist at the final. Bundmaa started slowly with a shido (penalty) for passivity after one minute but reacted well by opening the scoring with a waza-ari. Jung was held accountable for her lack of activity with a shido before her Mongolian rival was penalized with two quickfire shido penalties for false attacks. The Mongolian produced a second waza-ari with a clinical piece of ashi-waza for a second waza-ari to win by wazari-awasette-ippon. In the contest, the bronze medals went to Romanian judokas Chitu Andreea and Florian Larisa. On the second day, a State Honored Sportsman and Olympic champion N.Tuvshinbayar was lifted to a gold medal contest after he had had a bye in the first round and beat opponents of South Korea and Canada. He will compete with a Ukrainian at the final.
