MONGOLIA TO COMPETE IN ASIAN MEN'S CLUB VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The events will be participated by 18 teams. The Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship which usually runs in May, this time will be held April 8-16 to ensure that qualifiers end in time for the FIVB World Club Volleyball Championship, which has been moved to early May. The 18 teams will be drawn into four pools. Our team was seeded in the “A” pool together with the host Philippines, with Iraq and Kuwait. The top six teams of last edition were all drawn into the other three pools. Because the national leagues are still ongoing, the drawing of lots was conducted under the names of the AVC members. Pool B includes Iran, Japan (six finisher in 2013), Lebanon and Vietnam. Defending Champion Iran is the traditional strong team in the Asian Club Championships, as they have won nine titles in the past 13 editions, respectively in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013. Only in 2012, Kaleh, the club team representing Iran, failed to keep their excellent performance by winning only a bronze medal. Pool C will see Qatar play against Kazakhstan, Oman, Hong Kong and Turkmenistan. Qatar has emerged as one of the powerful club teams in Asia, who defeated China in a nail biting final match in 2012 and took home the gold medal for first ever time in this tournament, and finished second in 2013. In Pool D, bronze medal winner of 2013 Chinese Taipei will meet China, who placed fourth in 2013 edition, UAE and India. A winner of the Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship will be qualified to compete in the FIVB Men's World Club Championship that will be held May 6-11 in Betim, Brazil.
