MONGOLIAN CHESS PLAYERS IN LONDON

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Three Mongolian players are competing in 5th London Chess Classic FIDE Open. The international contest that kicked off on last Saturday will end December 15. After first five rounds, the eight-time national champion and Grand Master B.Khatanbaatar is at 37th place with three points (2 wins and 2 draws), while Ts.Bat-Erdene and T.Buyandalai have earned two and 1.5 points, respectively. The London Chess Classic FIDE Open is one of the must-play Swiss Events on the international calendar, this year it will have a bumper prize-fund of GBP over 10,000, as well as a participation of twelve Grandmasters. Apart from the headlining Super Sixteen and the FIDE Open, a smorgasbord of side events catering for players of all ages and all rating is going on: a FIDE Weekday Tournament, two Weekend Tournaments, four Rapidplay Tournaments, four Blitz Tournaments and three Grandmaster Simultaneous Displays from past British Champions Julian Hodgson, John Nunn and Jon Speelman.
