Mongolian at Sochi Paralympics

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian B.Ganbold is to compete Monday at LW6 Cross-Country Skiing Men’s 20km Classic, Standing event of Sochi Paralympics. B.Ganbold will start sixth among 20 skiers from 12 countries at Men’s 20km Classic competition. He will also represent Mongolia at events of 1 km sprint on Wednesday 10 km standing on Sunday. Mongolia made its debut at the Paralympic Winter Games in 2006 when N.Sukhbaatar competed in cross-country skiing. Prior to Sochi Paralympics, Mongolia had two men in the top 25 in the men's cross-country standing 20km event at the Solleftea 2013 IPC Nordic Skiing World Championships. B.Ganbold finished 18th and G.Dugersuren came 22nd. The 2014 Winter Paralympics are a major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), currently being held in Sochi, Russia from 7–16 March 2014. 45 National Paralympic Committees are expected to participate in the Games, which will mark the first time Russia has hosted the Paralympics. The Games will feature 72 medal events in five sports, and will see the debut of snowboarding at the Winter Paralympics.
