Myanmar Beat Singapore 2-0 In SEA Games Opener

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Myanmar began their football campaign at the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games on the right foot after blasting Singapore 2-0 in the first group A match Monday. Striker Aung Thu was the toast of ‘The White Angels when he netted two goals to help Myanmar chalked up their first win. The game at Selayang Municipal Council Stadium saw more than 2,000 spectators cheering for Myanmar right from the start. Rain which came towards the end of the first half seemed to bring good luck to Myanmar when Aung Thu who was unmarked slammed in the ball in the 45th minute. In the second half, Singapore under coach Richard Francis Emile Tardy appeared rejuvenated to look for the equaliser but Aung Thu sealed the match with his second goal in the 62nd minute to earn three points for Myanmar.
