Doha, March 18 (QNA) - The Solomon Islands national team defeated Cook Islands 2-0, today at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Al Arabi Club, in the opener of the first group of Oceania qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which includes eight teams. The Solomon Islands team owes its victory to its players, Atkin Kawa, who opened the scoring at the beginning of the 20th minute, and Alwin Hou, who scored the second goal in the (45+1) minute. First and second from each group qualify for the semi-finals, the winners will meet in the final match that will determine the representative of Oceania, who will face the representative of the CONCACAF in the continental play-off scheduled to be held in June 2022 for a seat in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
