Ooredoo Cup Semi-Final: Al-Wakarh, Al-Sailiya Aspire to Win a Final Ticket
Doha, March 18 (QNA) - Al-Wakrah and Al-Sailiya are going head to head to win the qualification card for the Ooredoo cup final this season (2020/2021), when they meet Saturday in the semi-finals of the competition at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Al-Sadd Club at five o'clock in the evening.
Each team aspires to win and reach the final, hoping to win the championship trophy, to achieve an achievement for either of them during this season.
Al-Wakrah had reached this stage after leading the first group, with 11 points from 5 games, and in the quarter-final round, defeating Al-Kharaitiyat in a penalty shootout that ended (4-3) after the end of the original time of the match that saw a tie of (1-1), to qualify for the semi-final round. Final.
As for Al-Sailiya, having played in the first group, and finished third from 5 matches with 8 points, and in the quarter-final round defeating Al Arabi by penalties (5-4) after a tie in original time ended (2-2), to climb to the semi-final round.
The match is considered an opportunity for the two teams to compete for one of the tournaments this season, and each team aims to win and qualify for the final match and compete to win the cup to compensate for some of the failures that the two teams faced in the league this season.
Al-Wakrah is ranked ninth in the league's table with 22 points from 20 weeks, as they have recently won against Al-Gharafa with (2-0) in the 21 week's match that was rescheduled between the two teams due to Al Gharafa's association with the AJMK/ Uzbek match on April 7 in the qualifying preliminary round for the 2021 AFC Champions League group stage
On the other hand, Al-Sailiya ranks eighth with 23 points, and in the nineteenth round lost to Al Duhail (2-0).
International players joining the national teams, as well as some foreign professionals, will be absent from both teams, which is considered an opportunity for other players, especially young talents, to participate and have a chance in this match. (QNA)
