Our wrestler becomes twice world champion
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Our wrestler D.Sumiya on Sunday won a gold medal at the Sambo World Championship in St Petersburg, Russia.
On the second day of tournament, D.Sumiya, who previously won world championship title in Minsk in 2012 beating her opponents from Bulgaria, France and Russia, won another gold medal at the women´s weight category up to 57 kg.
The first day of the most important sambo event of the year, Mongolian Kh.Tsagaanbaatar grabbed a silver medal at the men’s 74 kg event, beating Russian Kurzhev and Georgian Mamulashvili, whereas Belarusian Popov became world champion. The same day, another two Mongolians – D.Tomorkhuleg (men’s 68 kg) and T.Battogs (women’s 64kg) won bronze medals. At the combat sambo event, B.Damlanpurev competing in men’s 62 kg grabbed a bronze medal- his sixth medal at the world arenas.
At the event held to mark the 75-year jubilee of sambo as a sport, some 500 athletes representing 73 teams are competing for medals in the Yubileiny Palace of Sports.
