Preparations in full swing for Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship

Manama, Nov. 24 (BNA): Preparations for the up-coming Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship are ongoing at full-swing with the Organising Committee members actively working to ensure the event is a huge success. A meeting of the Organising Committee members was held in order to preview the plans for the hosting of the event. Present at the meeting was Ahmed Al Hajj, the event manager; Abdullah Al Shamlan, Director of the local race; Nawaf Al Dhaen, marketing manager of championship; as well as other individuals involved in the preparations. The meeting discussed the championship course as well as other matters pertaining the organisation of the event, and stress was put on the importance of making all efforts to ensure the event is a success. On the other hand, the Organising Committee launched a promotional campaign in cooperation with Batelco in a bid to spread awareness about the event within the Bahraini society. An SMS containing informative content on the event has already been sent out. Bahrain Road Runners in collaboration with an event management company will organise an Olympic Triathlon on Thursday in support of the Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship. The event will be held at Durrat Marina, and will include a 1.5km cycling race and a 10km running race. The event is expected to witness huge participation from people from different walks of life. The Organising Committee approved advertisements in support of the event which were prepared in cooperation with Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority. The advertisements will be aired on Bahrain T.V channels in order to promote the championship. The same advertisement is already being projected on multi-purpose screens in Gulf Air planes.
