Qatar’s Yousuf Al Kazim Elected First Vice President of Asian Boxing Confederation

Bangkok, April 17 (QNA) - Dr. Yousuf Al Kazim, President of Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation (QBWF) and Chairman of the Arab Boxing Federation, was elected First Vice-President of Asian Boxing Confederation during the General Assembly for a term of four years until 2022. Al Kazim was elected in Thailand's capital Bangkok after a strong competition with 13 candidates from Thailand, India, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Mongolia, China, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iran, Laos, Singapore, Sri Lanka and South Korea. The Qatari candidate secured 22 votes out of 36 Asian countries eligible to vote in the 42-nation General Assembly. Three members secured the vice-president's position in this election, representing South Korea, China and Thailand. Dr. Yousuf Al Kazim expressed his great satisfaction with the great confidence he received from the confederation's General Assembly after his election as First Vice President and hoped that he will continue his efforts to develop the boxing sport in Asia at all levels. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Kazim said that the confidence earned by the members of the General Assembly is coming from their belief in the success of QBWF policies in the development of boxing, as well as the reputation of Qatari sport everywhere. Al Kazim pointed out that the electoral process has witnessed strong competition with 14 candidates competing to secure four seats which are the First Vice President and three other deputies, pointing out that his long experience in the field of boxing sports helped him to deal with the atmosphere of elections and to overcome the candidates of other countries who has a long history in Boxing sport. Al Kazim stressed that from this moment he will continue his efforts to raise the level of the Asian boxing sport globally, especially that boxing is one of the most important Olympic Games and has an Olympic history.
