Qatar Beat Japan to Qualify for Second Round of Handball World Cup

Cairo, January 17 (QNA) - Qatar handball team secured a 31-29 win over their Japanese counterpart in the match they played Sunday within Group C of the ongoing 2021 Handball World Cup in Egypt. Today's win brought Qatari team's tally to 4 points after beating Angola 30-25 in their first match. Qatar has now qualified for the second round even before their last match in the first round against Croatia on Tuesday. Both Qatari and Japanese teams played a strong and exciting match. The first half ended with Japan leading by 16-15, but at the end of the second half the Qatari team managed to secure a 31-29 lead to win the match. Qatari national team player Frankis Carol won the match's best player award. (QNA)
