Qatar Classic Squash Tournament to Begin on October 17
Doha, October 04 (QNA) - The Qatar Tennis Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) intensified its ongoing preparations for the Qatar Classic Squash Tournament which will take place from October 17 to 23 at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha where most of the top players of the world are featuring in the event.
QTSBF Secretary-General Tariq Zainal said the tournament is a major fixture in the world and is important for the top players in terms of gaining valuable points and improving their rankings and preparations are underway through the tireless work of all the tournament committees to organize a distinguished global version as every year where the top ranked players compete annually and participate in the championship due to its great global reputation at the organizational and technical levels as well as the accuracy of the precautionary measures taken by the country to ensure the passage of the championship to safety and achieve the highest levels of success.
This came during a press conference held by the organizing committee of the tournament at the Four Seasons Hotel during which a partnership agreement was signed between the Qatar Federation and Q-Terminals to sponsor the tournament this year in the presence of Q-Terminals CEO Neville Bisset.
Zainal also expressed the happiness of the Organizing Committee for the partnership and sponsorship of Q-Terminals he said that the Qatar Classic is one of the most important squash tournaments in the region expressing his hope that the tournament through cooperation with partners will reach new levels of success and contribute to strengthening the position of the city of Doha as the capital of major sporting events.
Zainal stressed that the tournament reflects the commitment of the Federation and Q-terminals to develop squash in Qatar in order to contribute to the refinement of Qatari talents in this sport.
Zainal also confirmed that the tournament's organizing committee will adhere to the health protocols issued by the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar regarding the application of precautionary measures against (Covid -19) as the tournament is held for the second time in light of these new health requirements.
The world's leading male squash players will battle it out and three-time winner Mohamed ElShorbagy will headline the draw ahead of British Open winner Paul Coll, former World Champion Tarek Momen and Marwan ElShorbagy. (QNA)
